Janelle Rahyns

Assistant Dean

I grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and graduated from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a graduate degree in Student Affairs. I was a Resident Director for University of California Los Angeles for eight years and served as a Resident Director for three Semester at Sea voyages (Spring 2010, Summer 2014, and Spring 2017). I received my PhD in Social Science and Comparative Education with a focus on International Education from UCLA and my research interests include cross-cultural communication, study abroad education, social psychology, and identity research. I have passionately cultivated a rich experience and depth of understanding in study abroad education and studied abroad in 2013 in South Africa. I also had the opportunity to visit and explore study abroad in England, Poland, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Ghana, Morocco, Mauritius, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Hong Kong, China, Tibet, Japan, and Mexico. I am excited to cultivate a culture of learning on the Yale-NUS campus and the greater Singaporean community.
