I was born and raised in Romania, left when I was 18 to go to college in Iowa, US, spent a summer interning in Kuala Lumpur, and lived in Chiang Mai, Thailand, working at a local university. Why Yale-NUS?
I would be lying if I didn’t admit that the prestige of both founding institutions did not play a factor in my choice. Aside from that, I read some interviews of people who had recently joined the university and they made it sound like a welcoming, warm place. I chose this position because I was excited about the possibility to work in a highly collaborative environment with people of similar interests yet different backgrounds, people that I can learn a lot from. I can't wait to meet everyone!Travel Bucket List
I want to finally make it to Indonesia and the Philippines, and maybe go back to Borneo for their yearly Rainforest festival. The entirety of Southeast Asia fascinates me and although I’m not entirely sure where I’ll go, I’ll take any and all opportunities that may arise to see new, cool things.Fun Fact
I absolutely LOVE to cook and I usually don’t like using measures. I tried to learn more Thai cooking when I was preparing to depart from there.
