Kingfisher Awards

The Dean of Students Office recognises the outstanding contributions of student organisations to the Yale-NUS College and the surrounding community. Join us in celebrating our outstanding leaders, organisations, programmes and role models this 2020–2021 academic year. In particular, the Kingfisher Awards want to celebrate the contributions by student leaders who exemplify the core values of the College: transformation, exploration, respect, inclusivity, and care.

Criteria for Award Nominations

  1. All individual nominees must be in good academic standing with the College during the 2020–2021 academic year.
  2. Student organisation nominees must be currently registered and in good standing with the Dean of Students Office.
  3. One nominator may nominate multiple individuals or groups for awards; however, each nomination must have its own nomination form and unique letters of support.
  4. All nominations require at least one letter from a Yale-NUS College student, faculty or staff member. Additional letters of support will be considered.
  5. Letters of nomination and support should provide as much detailed information about the nominee as possible. Information should pertain to the 2020–2021 academic year and/or events and activities that have occurred from August 2020–April 1, 2021.
  6. Letters of support should speak to the nominee’s strengths and qualifications. The more you can identify specifically why this nominee deserves to win that specific award, the easier it will be for the Selection Committee to review your nomination.
  7. Letters of support should include how the nominee’s efforts have furthered at least one of the core values of the College: transformation, exploration, respect, inclusivity, and care.
  8. Nominators are encouraged to let their nominees know a nomination is being submitted for them.

Nominations close 5 April, 11:59PM.

Students are recognized for distinct leadership roles and their dedication, commitment and leadership in serving their peers and campus life.

Residential College Advisors

RCAs work to support a small group of first-year students and act as mentors, programme planners, and advisors. They are one of the first people to help acclimate new students to the college and help to create an inclusive home full of care and respect!

O’Comm and OGLs

The Orientation Committee (O’Comm) and Orientation Group Leaders (OGLs) work closely with the Dean of Students Office to welcome incoming first-year students to the Yale-NUS community and make their orientation experience meaningful. They set the tone for the incoming students to understand how their time at Yale-NUS will be one of transformation and exploration.
