MMA, Mixed martial arts is a combat sport composed of a mix of different styles including judo, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, and karate. Both striking and grappling are allowed and can take place standing or on the ground. Movements, theory, and techniques are combined with this range of styles to make it into an effective fighting sport and an intensive, full-body workout.
Our MMA club at Yale-NUS trains every week with protective gear such as padded mats, boxing gloves, kick pads, and shin guards Technique and conditioning are the focuses. Due to the diverse nature of MMA, the classes varies widely. The club is open to students of all levels and backgrounds, from complete beginners to black belts in other styles!
